An ambitious project to develop a hot pools complex in Methven has been given a major funding boost with a $7.5million loan from the Government’s Provincial Growth Fund (PGF).
The loan will support the development of the $15million Opuke Thermal Springs and Spa, the first facility of its kind in New Zealand to be heated by solar power and with no emissions.
An economic benefit study estimates that the project will create 120 jobs both directly and indirectly, and will add an estimated $162 million to the area’s economy over 10 years.
