Variety Theatre Ashburton performers have enjoyed a costume walk-through just two weeks out from the first performance of the 2017 show The Addams Family.
Actors paraded in front of show director Regan Jackson and in full costume on Monday night.
The director and his team made a note of a few tweaks and adjustments and these will be completed by a dedicated team of six sewers over the coming days.
Costumes have been made, adjusted from stock items, and ordered in for the comedy show, which is based on a fictional household created by American cartoonist Charles Addams.
Lead characters like Gomez, played by Chris Woods, will have three costume changes, including a smart black dinner suit, while the Addams Ancestors will all have two.
The colourful Ancestors include a flapper, caveman, conquistador, air hostess and waitress and are the main dancers in the show. Their polished moves have been created under the guidance of show choreographer Jessie Thomson.
A team of five dressers, guided by costume manager Jo Hooper, will work back stage to ensure clothing changes are smooth and efficient.
Patrice Hammond will lead a team of seven hair and make-up volunteers, who will be equally busy behind the scenes.
The hand crafted set for the show, again created through many hours of volunteer labour, is now set up and on stage at Ashburton Trust Centre.
Seven shows of The Addams Family will be performed at the venue between May 20-27. Tickets are available from the Event Centre or from ticketdirect.co.nz.
