Rakaia author Amanda van Vliet has a new fan – singer Debbie Harry, of Blondie fame.
Mrs van Vliet met the Blondie singer in New York, and she knew about Mrs van Vliet’s books.
“I was very touched that she knew about my books and was excited to get signed copies of both books, asking which one had her friend’s pet in it. Of course (they were) signed by Queen Millie and I” – reference to one of the several dogs she owns which feature as characters in her books.
“Queen Millie is one of these characters and she has been dutifully signing books with me for our dedicated fans around the world.
“In April through a friend I was lucky enough to be invited to a Blondie concert as a guest of Debbie Harry’s. I was touched that she knew about my books.”
Mrs van Vliet’s new young adult fantasy book, By Dragon’s Light, was released last month and is the second book in the Arohanui series.
The book continues from where Battle for Arohanui left – the tale of the Hounds of Arohanui fighting the forces of evil that wish to consume them, taking the Hounds to new lands and adventures.
Mrs van Vliet has also written three books with Irish wolfhound Bridie as inspiration – Little Bridie Boo, The Puppy Who Grew and the young adult fantasy book, Battle for Arohanui.
The books are available from Amazon.com.
