Kavit Swamy will have his hair and precious beard shaved off on April 1 to support the Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand’s campaign Shave For a Cure.
Plucky Kavit has plenty of hair, both on his head and face, but is happy to lose it for the cause.
He’s no stranger to raising funds for the same charity and shaved his head in 2013 when living in Hawkes Bay.
“This time I’m losing both my precious beard, which I’ve pretty much had since 2013, and my hair,” he said.
His nan had passed away from cancer in recent months and he wanted to support the initiative again, he said.
Kavit, who works at South Island Seeds, has set a goal to raise $1000 or more and hopes for community support for his effort, which he is naming Bushy Beard Be Gone.
A friend, who works at Tanglez Hair Studio in Tinwald, will perform the hair and beard shave at 1pm on April 1 and there will be a live feed on Facebook.
