Mid Canterbury covid vaccinators have been working with the Canterbury District Health Board to increase the number of places where people can be vaccinated.
Additional centres have opened and there are also many pop-up vaccination sites planned.
There is no cost to get the vaccine.
A Pasifika vaccination clinic will be held at Ashburton College this Sunday, and a drop-in clinic will operate at Hinds, from the Southern Rugby Club, on Tuesday (September 28) from 11am until 3pm.
The Methven Medical Centre is running covid vaccination clinics for farmers in the district at the Methven Rugby Club.
They welcome anyone farming in Mid Canterbury wanting to get themselves and staff booked in, even if not patients at the medical centre.
Employers can email firstname.lastname@example.org with a list of staff names and they will reply with appointment times.
Staff at the medical centre are aware it’s a busy time on-farm so will do what they can to space out the appointments.
There are also several clinics operating around Ashburton with spare bookings in the next few weeks. People can book in online through the Bookmyvaccine website at bookmyvaccine.covid19.health.nz or phone 0800 28 29 26.
Among the extra opportunities is a social media call from Three Rivers Medical Centre, on Allens Road, in Allenton who have increased their vaccination capacity but are keen to have a list of people they can call at short notice to be vaccinated to prevent vaccine waste.
‘‘As there are sometimes ‘no shows’ we would love to have a list of people we can call at short notice to come in and have their covid vax.
‘‘If you think this could be you, please just drop a note to email@example.com with your name and contact number.’’
‘‘You don’t have to be a patient of Three Rivers – you just need to be here within about 20 minutes if we call.’’
Other upcoming clinics include one at Hakatere Marae on October 20, another Pasifika community event at Ashburton College and also the Ashburton culturally and linguistically diverse community at Hampstead Rugby Club; both events are on October 31.
There are also walk-in vaccinations available for anyone at Princess Margaret Hospital in Christchurch from now through until October 3 anytime from 2pm – 8pm on weekdays, or 10am – 3pm on weekends.
