Crowds flock, Nepalese dancers show style

Crowds flocked to Ashburton’s annual Multi Cultural Bite on Tuesday.The Waitangi Day event celebrates and showcases local cultural diversity and heritage. Nineteen stallholders from around the world, including the Philippines, Samoa, Tonga, New Caledonia, Fiji and Nepal offered bite size portions of favourite food from their former homelands.

The tempting dishes on offer included curries, cakes, spring rolls, noodles and tiramisu. The day’s entertainment line-up included the Ashburton Silver Band, young Nepalese dancers, Filipino dancers, King Hubb, the local pipe band, Samoan choir and celtic dancers.
