Culinary skills on show

Youngsters at BASE have packed in a variety of activities, including craft, swimming, the movies, yoga and cooking, into a busy school holiday programme.

Held at the youth centre’s new home at 193 Burnett Street, the programme has kept the nine to 14 years old both active and occupied.

Activities have been in groups and as individuals, with the emphasis on having fun.

Monday’s cooking challenge featured teams of four and five and food staples beef mince, vegetables, herbs, spices, noodles, rice and pasta.

Teams took it in turns to prep, cook and then clean up in the small BASE kitchen which has just two cooking hobs.
