There was a sea of green at Methven Primary on Friday, with staff and the school’s roll of 290 pupils dressing up for St Patrick’s Day.
As well as green clothing and footwear, there were also hats, wigs and other accessories on show.
Funds raised from the mufti day celebration will be given to the school’s enviro club to buy more “greenery” and plants.
Methven Primary has three Irish-born students on its roll and its principal, Chris Murphy, has Irish grandparents or great grand parents on both sides of his family.
Ireland and Northern Irealnd have a combined population of about six and a half million, but 70 million people worldwide claim Irish ancestry – including 15 per cent of Kiwis.
