Blue Thomas has clocked up 40 years working at the Hotel Ashburton, commonly known as the FlashAsh in the days of old.
And last week he was joined by at least eight former FlashAsh crew who got together in the Turf Bar for a long overdue catch up.
It was a luncheon filled with storytelling, memories and laughter, along with the odd tipple or two as they recalled other workmates, and the antics of working in the hospo industry with many late nights.
Organiser Helen Hands worked at the hotel for 34 years and was keen for a group catch up, even if it was a lunch at her home.
However the plan changed as more people were keen to attend.
When The Courier arrived the group was at nine with more still expected. Among those attending was realtor Chrissy Milne who was hotel manager for 10 years and Riding for the Disabled stalwart Maxine Hooper who worked at the hotel for around 25 years.
Between the group there was around 250 years of hospitality experience working throughout the restaurant, bars, kitchen, reception, housekeeping and bottle store.latest Nike releaseArchives des Sneakers
