The Methven Theatre Company has a fun, frolicking musical pantomime lined up to perform later this month.
The Four Musketeers is suitable for all ages and will feature all the elements of a classic pantomime, including gender fluid roles and the encouragement of audience participation.
Show director Richard Norrish said the cast of 26 included regular stage performer Gavin Templeton in the baddie role and Dale Stoliker as a cross-dressing dame.
The near two-hour show would feature a lavish wardrobe and flamboyant hair and make-up typical of 17th century France, he said.
The show was loosely based on the story of the Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas and would be entertaining, fun and would feature plenty of laughs and good music.
“Audience participation is definitely encouraged and we’ll have the words on a big screen, so there’s no excuses not to join in.”
The cast has been rehearsing for the last 12 weeks.
Three shows, all at 7.30pm, will be performed at the Mt Hutt Memorial Hall on November 19, 20 and 21.
Tickets cost $30 for adults and $15 for those under 16, plus fees.
