Grannies go into business

An enduring friendship between former colleagues, Yvonne McLean, Gail McKay and Tracey Garing, has seen the launch of two new business ventures under one roof.

The business, aptly called “The Grannies” due to each of the women’s grandmother status, officially opened in the Tinwald Shopping Centre this week.

Gift Basket Grannies sells gift baskets for all occasions and Granny’s Pre-loved + New Clothing sells pre-loved and new clothing. They are both on Facebook.

It’s the start of a lifelong dream for all the women, who worked together at Countdown South.

Gift Basket Grannies, owned by Yvonne and Gail, offers custom-made gift basket range to suit all occasions and any budget.

People can pick off the shelf, or leave the contents up to Yvonne and Gail.

“A gift basket business has always been in the back of my mind,” says Yvonne.

The women did their research and saw there was a gap in Ashburton’s market so decided to go ahead.

Their product includes good quality items, sourced as close to Mid Canterbury as possible, that can be tailored to suit individual tastes, significant events or corporate need.

In store they also sell product off the shelf including the popular nappy cakes, tea cup towers and handbags.

Granny’s Pre-loved + New Clothing, owned by Tracey, was also a lifelong dream.

It offers pre-loved clothing for sale, which Tracey can sell on behalf of people, as well as a range of new clothing products sourced locally and internationally.

Among the racks of children’s clothing there is a range of baby wear including booties, bibs and clothing for all occasions.latest Nike release/New Releases Nike
