Ashburton youth centre BASE has obtained a stash of new coats for its Coats For Kids initiative. Around 25 new winter coats of all colours and sizes have been obtained through The Warehouse Community Fund, which asks shoppers to chose a local cause and then converts those nominations from tokens into dollars. Around $700 has been given to the youth centre, which now has even more racks of free coats to offer the community. Coats range from size zero up to 16. There are also hats, gloves and scarves available through the Coats For Kids campaign. BASE is located in a shared space at the back of the Tancred Street Mall and is open weekdays (term time) from 3pm until 5pm.
