The name might have changed, but it’s business as usual at Ashburton’s premier venue for live music, theatre and performance.
Event Centre naming sponsor Ashburton Trust is now known as the Braided Rivers Community Trust and new signage reflecting the name change went up on the building last week.
Braided Rivers Community Trust chief executive Rob Reid said the trust under its old name had been a strong backer of the venue from day one.
When funding was being sought for the construction of the event centre the trust had entered into an agreement to hold naming rights for an initial 10 year period.
That period had been extended for an additional 10 years from July 2017.
Mr Reid said the trust had worked with the team at the event centre to ensure that the new branding could be incorporated into the building and work for both parties.
“It’s important to acknowledge that this is an important community facility and one which we are proud to continue supporting under the Braided Rivers Community Trust banner.”
Event centre manager Roger Farr said the venue appreciated the relationship and financial support offered by the trust over the years.
Both organisations shared a common ethos of “providing for our community”.
“We look forward to our relationship continuing under our new name, Braided Rivers Community Trust Event Centre.”
The venue will continue trading as the Ashburton Event Centre and will continue to bring the same fantastic entertainment to Ashburton as it had for the last 14 years, Mr Farr said.
