Question of parentage as show set for the stage

A mother (Donna), a daughter (Sophie), three possible dads (Bill, Harry and Sam) and a trip down the aisle all feature in the hit musical Mamma Mia, which will be on stage in Ashburton from May 18.

Featuring ABBA hits like Honey Honey, Money Money Money, Thank You For The Music, Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen and Super Trouper, the Variety Theatre Ashburton show invites you to get on your party shoes for a night out to remember.

Sophie wants her father to walk her down the aisle at her wedding, but she doesn’t know who her father is.

After discovering her mother’s journal, she uncovers three potential names and, unbeknown to her mother, invites them to her wedding in an attempt to discover her parentage.

Comic and dramatic in equal parts, the musical is set on a Greek island.

Brent Gray plays the role of travel writer Bill, Chris Woods is wealthy financier Harry and Aaron Boyce is architect Sam.

It is the ninth Variety Theatre show for Gray, the 15th for Woods and the first for Boyce.

Other key roles are played by Heather McFarlane (Donna) and Miriam Abigail von Voorthuizen (Sophie).

A talented cast of 33, including ensemble members and backing singers, will perform in the show.

The production features a custom made set and costumes and live band.
