Pupils brave cold weather for cross-country
Cold temperatures and a bit of light drizzle did not deter competitors racing in the Primary Schools County Cross Country at the Ashburton A&P Showgrounds on Tuesday.
Schools from around the district sent each of their top six year group competitors to represent their schools, resulting in scores of pupils from around the district competing in either 2km or 3km events (Year 5 and Year 6 ran 2km and Year 7 and Year 8 ran 3km).
The 1km course, set up around the grass track of the showgrounds included hay bales and hill climb obstacles.
The winners of the each of the four year groups will head to the Canterbury Primary School’s Cross Country championships at the Halswell Quarry, Christchurch, on June 21.
