One of the South Island’s biggest rodeo events, the Methven Rodeo, is lined up for October 25.
The day will feature some of the best cowboys and cowgirls, bulls, fast horses and broncs.
Competitors from the Mid Canterbury region who will be in action on the day include Brad Berquist, Brendan Johnston and Hunter Brooks in the second division bull ride, Angela Laing, Emma Lake-Hill, Jenna Mills and Sarra Woods in the second division barrel race, Libby Feutz in the junior barrel race, Liam Hofsteede in the open bareback, Andrew Hart in the open team roping and open rope and tie, and Annabelle Wiggins in the open barrel race.
The day of spills and thrills will be held at the Methven rodeo grounds on Barkers Road.
The action starts at 8.30am, with the main performances starting at lunchtime.
The rodeo features food vendors, trade stalls, a licensed bar and family fun activities.
There will be lunchtime entertainment and a charity auction fundraising for the McLeod family of Methven, who have two sons diagnosed with stage 2 spinal muscular atrophy.
Entry to the rodeo costs $20 for adults, $10 for children between five and 16 and a family pass is $50.
