Another impressive giant wooden playhouse is the top prize in the annual Ashburton Lions Club pre Christmas raffle.
The playhouse will be on display and tickets sold at Boulevard Day on East Street on September 26. After Boulevard Day, tickets can be bought through Lions club members.
The playhouse has been designed, constructed and painted by Lions club member Roger Paterson, a trained cabinet maker.
It is Mr Paterson’s 12th playhouse creation and each year the project nets the club between $3000 and $4000.
This year’s oblong structure includes a swing on the side, two windows, a front veranda and clever paintwork on the front door.
There is a colourful multi-coloured storage drawer system inside.
The Ashburton Lions raffle will be drawn in mid December and the playhouse will be delivered to the lucky winner before Christmas.
Ronald McDonald House will be the recipient of funds from this year’s raffle initiative.
