A scared adult cat has been dumped without water at the Mid Canterbury SPCA.

Rallou Keeley, who runs the centre with husband John, said she found the cat in a cage at its front door on Monday morning and she did not know when it was dropped off.

“It would have been nice to get a call first to see if we had room. This is our busy time of year.

“I’m disappointed people can be so cruel – left with a little tin of food and no water.

“The cat is terrified.”

Mrs Keeley said that although the centre was full, it would look after the cat.

“This is not the place to dump animals. We will look after it, we have no option,” she said.

The cat, in good condition, had soiled its cage and was very nervous.
