An unusual hat, a talking cat and a heap of musical numbers are on offer when senior students from Ashburton Borough School perform Seussical The Musical next month.

Sixty students have been working on the musical production featuring the Cat in the Hat, Horton and a range of other Dr Seuss characters who join together for wholesome, quirky, family entertainment.

The students have put in hours of work creating stage artwork, props and costume design as well as learning musical numbers and onstage performances to get the show off the ground.

And with less than two weeks to go, they were fine tuning their efforts.

On show nights all students will have a role to play in the show whether onstage or within the backstage operation; stage hands, lighting/sound crews and chorus singing.

The show is on at the school performance centre on Winter Street, on July 3 and July 4 starting at 6.30pm.

Tickets cost adults $10, and child under 16-years a donation.

Tickets are on sale now from the school office.
