Staying dry in July

The bubbly duo have signed up for Dry July, and they are seeking sponsorship, with the funds going to the Salvation Army’s drug and alcohol programme.
The two are social drinkers, but say there is a serious issue with alcohol abuse, and they have watched a friend destroy her life with alcohol.
Mrs Quaid said most people were social drinkers, but some people could not control their drinking.
‘‘It’s opened our eyes to the effects of alcohol.’’
