Mid Canterbury tennis players are buzzing after lifting the Browning Shield for the fifth consecutive year.

The 10-strong team beat Malvern 16-8, North Canterbury 17-7 and Ellesmere 14-10 to claim the shield on home turf at the Ashburton Trust Tennis Centre.

The rep team played singles and doubles matches over two days against the top players from other country areas.

Team member and Mid Canterbury Tennis coach Andre Van Rooyen said the team had performed consistently.
