Tinwald crossing to be moved

The pedestrian crossing on Archibald Street in Tinwald will be relocated

The pedestrian crossing on Archibald Street in Tinwald is set to be relocated because of the location of the new NPD service station.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency principal transport planner Michael Blyleven said “the Tinwald highway improvements NZ upgrade project will eventually provide a safe pedestrian crossing controlled by traffic signals that will replace the current mid-block pedestrian crossing of the state highway.

“In the meantime, a new NPD service station is about to open on the corner of Graham Street, and its state highway entrance means the mid-block crossing has to be removed.”

An alternative crossing will be constructed in the block between Graham Street and Jane Street prior to removal of the current crossing.

“This may take a few weeks to complete. In the meantime, NPD may open with access from Graham St initially,” Mr Blyleven said.
