Tucker haul in, but down on previous years

Food donations were down, but this year’s Toot For Tucker collection will still provide vital supplies for the shelves at local foodbanks.

Monday night’s food drive was organised by Ashburton County Lions and was around one third down on the 400 or so banana boxes of non-perishable items usually collected.

Ashburton County Lions membership director Jackie Ryan said there had been fewer donations and helpers this year, but there had still been a good haul of food collected.

She said this year had been a strange one for everyone with the Covid- 19 lockdown and it had been tough one for some families,

Mrs Ryan praised the volunteers who lent a hand on Monday night, including local army and air cadets.

She said Toot For Tucker had been running for 20 years now and would continue to support the worthwhile work of local foodbanks.

Foodbanks run by the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and Presbyterian Support will once again benefit from the generosity of the community this year.latest jordansnike air force barkley pack purple black blue hair Retro High OG “Chicago” White/Black-Varsity Red
