U15s softball champs action

There was plenty of softball action during the Mainland Softball southern zone U15s open club championships in Ashburton.

The Mainland Softball southern zone U15s open club championships wound up at Argyle Park, Ashburton at the weekend with some thrilling play and finals action.

Teams from Parklands Christchurch United (PCU) won both finals on Sunday as PCU Fury beat Rolleston Diamonds in the girls final, and PCU Dodgers beat Demons in the boys final.

The competition, hosted by the Mid Canterbury Softball Association, saw 22 teams competing across the girls and boys events.

Ashburton had three teams competing and four players were named in the open club championships rest team 2022. They were Rylee Anning-Bensley and Holly Husband (girls), and Liam Stoliker and Daniel Ditmer (boys).

Carl O’Neill

Mid Canterbury Softball Association president Carl O’Neill was thankful to the people and organisations who had helped in any way to make the tournament such a huge success, and gave special thanks to those on the organising committee.

“I cannot thank you all enough for your efforts and you should all be very proud of what we achieved,” he said.

“The feedback has been outstanding and every player coach, manager, umpire, scorer and spectator that I talked to went away very happy.”
