Water bombing is encouraged at Rakaia Community Pool on Saturday as the annual manu and bomb competition gets under way.
There are some great prizes on offer to category winners including the chance to win a pool key for next season, vouchers and prizes donated from local businesses such as Four Square, Mobil and Annie’s.
The categories are biggest manu, loudest bomb and best style.
Rakaia Community Pool secretary Cass Sawa said the annual fundraiser was a fun way to bring in funds to improve the pool facility and its offerings.
There will be a barbecue food, drinks and ice blocks for sale.
Entry is $3 per non key holder.
‘‘Last year we got enough money to purchase a new barbecue and foam float mats and toys for the children in the community to enjoy for free.
‘‘With Ashburton council helping us with a floating Aflex basketball hoop and a new shade cover and seats, we’re feeling pretty proud of our small community pool,’’ she said.
‘‘This year we are hoping to put the funds towards more foam floaties for the community as our new ones have been extremely popular.’’
