Organisers of the inaugural multicultural talent show held at the Holyoake Auditorium, at Ashburton College, on Friday evening were thrilled with the 17 performances showcased.

The show was a project of the Hakatere Multi Cultural Council and Ethnic Leaders Forum.

Hakatere Multi Cultural co-ordinator Ana Taufa said the event went very well.

‘‘It was amazing, such a really good night and a celebration of the diversity in Mid Canterbury.’’

Singers and dancers took to the stage many wearing cultural dress while they entertained about 200 members of the audience.

While Taufa was nervous as the show got closer, she said on the day the ethnic leaders all took on roles which made for a very well-run and stress-free event.

Plans were already under way to stage another show in 2026 building on the success of this year’s one.
