Art winners decided

The winners have been chosen and an impressive selection of art is on display for visitors at Ashburton Art Gallery.

Some 230 people attended Monday night’s awards evening.

The premier award went to established artist Min Kim for her oil on canvas work called Poem of Spring.

Gray Leonard’s artwork called Storm won the Trustpower Water and Nature Award and Maria Quick’s Water Nymph won the $500 NBS local merit award.

There were 15 sponsored awards given this year with monetary values ranging from $2000 for the premier award down to $200 for others.

Artworks were judged by painter Michael Eaton.

The annual exhibition features 250 artworks from local, national and guest artists and runs until November 13 .
