A paintball target session for children and families is being planned at The Plains this Sunday by organisers of the annual Mid Canterbury Children’s Day event.
The free session will be held at an open day at the Tinwald complex that runs from 11am to 4pm. It is the second session the children’s day organisers have planned these holidays; the other was bike fun with Pedalmania in early December.
Children’s Day trustee Warren Janett said there was plenty of uncertainty around covid and Children’s Day organisers wanted to offer some family friendly fun now to those in the community.
The event has not been run in the past two years due to covid but also due to the development of the Mid Canterbury Children’s Day charitable trust status.
Mr Janett said there had been so much cancelled that organisers did not want children – and their families – to miss out on anything.
The paintball session will be set up in the grounds of The Plains Railway & Historical Museum and will run alongside the historical village’s other on site activities, including railcar RM50 operating rides.
This year’s Children’s Day is set for March 6.
