Work has been progressing well on Methven’s Opuke Thermal Pools and Spa, but delays will mean the project will now open in early October instead of late August.
Before lockdown the finishing touches were being put on the huge solar farm that will heat the facility and will set it apart from other hot pools.
Inspired by the backdrop of the nearby mountains, the pools will use an industry-leading water treatment system to ensure exceptional bathing water purity.
Opuke Thermal Pools and Spa marketing co-ordinator Olivia Attwood said the management team were now all on board and excited for the doors to open.
After some unavoidable delays, the aim was for an opening in October, all going well with the current lockdown situation.
Tradies were allowed back on site from level 3, she said.
The 2ha site on the edge of Methven will offer family hot pools, kids aqua play zone with a crazy river and leap of faith plunge pool, adult-exclusive hot pools, cold plunge pools and sauna, private pools, a fully-equipped spa facility offering a range of therapies and a social spa experience called the Spa Hutt.
Entry prices at Opuke will be aligned with other similar facilities in the South Island and there will be a discount card for regular users.
