Methven business are coming together next month to offer a unique, active weekend experience called Peak Escape.
The Garage Gym will lead activities and adventures in the hills, while Ski Time will provide food and accommodation.
Massage, spa and sauna options at Flow Pool and mountain bike hire from Big Al’s are also promoted for relaxation and at free time sessions.
The aim of Peak Escape is to get people into our backyard and to showcase what Methven and the surrounding area has to offer, says Garage Gym owner Anna Johnson.
The idea for the weekend came about during lockdown and was about giving people an experience and adventure weekend in one of the “greatest parts of New Zealand’s South Island”.
“When I have races booked I like to go somewhere for a couple of days and to check out the area.
“I’m passionate about my home town of Methven and I’m keen to show it off,” said Mrs Johnson.
The active weekend was open to everyone and would give people the tools and confidence to get out and enjoy the outdoors and to “adventure to the max” if they wished.
The escape starts with a boot camp and team building workout at 6pm on November 6.
After dinner at Ski Time, the weekend options and timetable will be explained further.
Saturday will start with a workout class, and after breakfast participants can choose to head to the outdoor hotspots of Peak Hill, Mt Alford or Rakaia Gorge.
There will be a panel chat back at Ski Time from 5pm with guest speakers talking about their own adventures and setting up businesses.
Participants are free to arrange their own dinner on Saturday night and to explore Methven further.
On Sunday there is an exercise class before breakfast and then the opportunity to tackle another outdoor hotspot.
Numbers are restricted to 12 and a package that includes accommodation, food and transport is available.
