Community food donations have once again been collected and given out to provide vital supplies for the shelves of local foodbanks.
The Toot For Tucker food drive on Monday night was organised by Ashburton County Lions and collected non-perishable items from around the streets of Ashburton and other areas.
Foodbanks run by the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and Presbyterian Support have once again benefitted from community benevolence.
Elizabeth Ratu from the Salvation Army said the food donations were a welcome boost to foodbanks before Christmas.
Importantly, it meant there would be stocks for the start of the new year.
Mrs Ratu said the Salvation Army gave out food parcels that included non-perishable staples and also items like meat, bread, vegetables and eggs, which were often donated.
