On May 11, 2026, peacefully at Ashburton Hospital, surrounded by family. Loved husband of the late Murna for over 65 years. Loved father and father-in-law of Sharyn and Michael Poole, Peter Soal, and Noddy and Maxine Soal. Loved grandfather of Jason and Jenny Soal, Chris, Shonti and Steph Poole, Shannon King, and Jessica and Damien Crossen. Loved great-Grandy of Corbin, and Maddy Soal; Lyrik, Dante, and Amaya Tawhana, Ollie and Ava. Loved son of Thelma May and Edgar Ernest Soal. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Judy and Mervyn Peck.
