Ashburton is about to get another place to grab adeal and find a hidden treasure.

The SPCA is opening an op shop on June 19.

SPCA head of retail Cathy Crichton said they opened their Ashburton Animal Services Centre in 2020 and have been generously supported by the community.

‘‘Our exciting new Ashburton SPCA op shop will contribute all profits to supporting New Zealand’s animal welfare.

‘‘We focus on locations where we’ll get the best outcome to support the needs of vulnerable animals across New Zealand, which is the core purpose of our op shops,’’ she said.

The shop will be at 418 West street and will be staffed by a team of volunteers and staff.

Cathy said they are currently seeking volunteers ‘‘to help set up our new store and for ongoing support in the Ashburton Op Shop when we open in June.’’

Cathy said they have hired a local shop manager with a string of retail leadership experience in charity retail.

The shop will be fully stoked on opening day. ‘‘We are generously supported in our group of five Christchurch SPCA op shops.

‘‘This enables us to provide a stock package from our Christchurch storage facility to help us set up successfully for opening our new Ashburton SPCA op shop,’’ Cathy said.

Donations can be dropped off at the store from Monday, June 19. If you are interested in volunteering email: [email protected]
