The Plains Railway & Historical Museum Precinct in the Tinwald Domain was bursting with people enjoying a day of festive fun on Sunday. The Plains held a Christmas celebration themed open day where people browsed market stalls and food trucks that lined the main street, and children took part in a chocolate Santa hunt. Museum buildings were adorned with plenty of Christmas decorations and displays. JA 1260 the only coal fired steam loco of its class in the South Island took carriage loads of people on trips, including Santa who popped in for a visit.
